The 5 aside tournament took place Saturday 19th November
The Venue: Buckshaw  Village Football Pitches
.

The tournament was a great success with four teams taking part, with three dad’s teams and a team of the clubs coaches.

Congratulations to the Winning Team - Parents from the Under 10's Team.

Thank you to Paul and Wendy Rogers (Landlord and Landlady of the Railway) for their generous hospitality afterwards. It was amazing to see so many people at The Railway Gastro Pub, Euxton.

The event was the brainchild of (Buckshaw based) Under 10’s Manager  Craig Newsham, who thought  it was a great way of getting parents involved. Without his organisation this event would never have happened.

And a BIG thanks to Phil Toale, and MTS for their match day sponsorship and providing the excellent trophy.

Without doubt it has brought everyone involved with the club closer together. It can only make the club stronger in the future.

The Annual Awards Evening was a roaring success.

FA Charter Standard Club Astley & Buckshaw Juniors FC held its 2011 annual presentation evening at St Joseph's Club Harper Lane , Chorley on Friday 20th May.
Future players, the teams, coaches and for the first time junior referee's received their awards in front of a capacity audience of family, friends and club officials.

Parents and Tesco's Buckshaw Village kindly provided a range of raffle prizes to raise funds for the club.

The community junior football club established in Astley Village back in 2004 has now grown to include Buckshaw Village. The event marked the end of a busy season with a new sponsor deal with Barratt Homes , all the teams finishing in creditable positions in higher leagues, the Saturday morning community sessions delivered at Buckshaw astro- pitch, holiday soccer schools organised in the local community and the introduction of a volunteer coaches mentoring scheme.

The club is also keen to encourage wider participation in the game and thanks to a grant from the Chorley Sports Forum this provided the opportunity for four high school students to undertake their referee qualifications.

Cllr Mark Perks the club's welfare officer presented these awards to Roy Smith, Joel Noblett, Connor Hayward ( Parklands ) and Dan Crofts ( St Michael's ).

Next season will see the club developing two new teams an Under 9's and Under 10's.

Following, a £ 5000 Football Foundation development grant awarded to Chorley FA Charter Standard Club Astley & Buckshaw Juniors FC earlier this year. The club is now on the look-out for young football players with the intention to form new Under 9 and 10's and a youth team for next season.
The club which runs all its coaching sessions at Buckshaw Village astro pitch , has now trained up a number of  volunteers who have gained their FA coaching qualifications. This has allowed the club to increase its capacity to develop further teams and coaching sessions.
Cllr Mark Perks the club welfare officer said, "thanks to this grant and our volunteer mentoring programme, we have increased our coaching staff and with another group currently about to take their coaching qualifications the club has reached the stage where we can offer more team football and training sessions.
We are looking for players whether they are novices or have some experience to attend our community coaching sessions with the intention to develop into teams ready for next season.
Our sessions  are held on a Saturday mornings between 9.30 and 11.00 and we are about to begin a recruitment campaign in local primary schools aimed at pupils in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4.
We are also developing our youth provision in conjunction with Buckshaw Youth Association and are also looking for players aged 15 to 17, these sessions run on a Friday evening between 8 and 9pm again with the aim of forming a youth team – all are welcome."

Football kit for Uganda
Uganda school students wearing their donated football kit

Michael Salisbury, ex-referee and coach with the Central Lancashire Junior league.
has just returned from Uganda working for a charity called Teams 4U. Whilst over in Uganda he visited a number of schools as part of a HIV/Aids awareness programme.
Aside from this project the charity were able to donate 10 football kits to 10 different schools which was brilliant when you consider most school matches are played with one team in shirts and the other skins because they do not own a kit and all players play barefoot as they do not own trainers or boots.
Above are some pics of the schools in their new kit.
Could you imagine our junior leagues playing in these conditions!?
Despite handing out 10 kits this did not scratch the surface when you consider one district alone has 60 schools in its boundaries.
Any donations of old football strips which your club no longer requires, even if it is simply 11 shirts would be fantastic.
Along with kit as young boys and girls grow so do their feet so if you are able to collect unwanted football boots then as a charity we would be extremely grateful.

If you are able to help and/or require more information or would like any material to display in your club house then please click the following link and we will forward your interest to Michael so that he can get in touch with you Contact Michael.

Thank you.
