Astley Village Juniors FC Under 10's Players Say Thank You To Baron's Rest.

A kind offer of help to a local junior football team back in 2007 was repaid this week as players from Astley Village Juniors U10's made a surprise visit to the Baron's Rest, to say a big thank you to the licensee's with flowers and presents.

Thank you Steph & Dave

The team found themselves without a ground and changing facilities last November when the local school introduced a charging policy which the team could not afford.

While the team received support from Mark Perks and Chorley Council kindly gave permission for the Derian House playing field to be used as their home pitch. The lack of changing facilitiies was a real problem for the lads.

However, upon hearing of the Under 10's plight Steph and Dave, licensee's of the Baron's Rest offered changing facilities for the team so the Sunday home fixtures could be honoured. This has proved to be a real bonus for the team who found themselves treated to post match hospitality few juniors team could imagine - refreshments and food!

The team not only finsihed 4th in the league but reached the semi final of the league cup the highest achievement yet attained by the club. The committee and parents at the club have really appreciated the Baron's Rest support this year and also say a big thank you to Steph and Dave!

Astley Village Juniors FC - 3rd Annual Presentation Evening.

Astley Village Juniors FC held their 3rd presentation evening earlier this year at Chorley FC Victoria Park social club. The event was a sell out with 150 attending the awards evening.

Guest of honour was Chorley FC striker Danny Nolan who is no stranger to the players at the club. Danny helped out with the club's summer holiday soccer programme last year and knows quite a number of the players.

Danny a former pupil of Coppull Parish School, Southlands High and Runshaw College first played for Lancashire County's Under 18's before being signed up by Chorley FC last year.

Later in the evening Danny chatted and had his picture taken with both the Under 10 and Under 12 teams, managers and their awards!
